Cataract Pre Op
Pre-Operative Physical Exam
VIHA requires all patients having cataract surgery to have a pre-operative examination completed by the family doctor or walk-in clinic doctor. This needs to be completed a minimum of 2 wks prior to your surgery date. The doctor will forward this required information directly to the hospital.
Surgery Drops
Fill prescription approximately 1 week before surgery to ensure drops are in stock. You will have 3 different drops: Zymar, Ketorolac, and Prednisolone. 2 days before surgery you will start using Zymar four times a day to the surgical eye only. DO NOT use these prescribed drops on the morning of surgery.
Glaucoma Drops
If you use glaucoma drops, continue with your regular schedule including the morning of surgery. Other MedicationsTake all regular medications as prescribed. Continue use of Aspirin and blood thinners.
Supplies
Purchase non allergenic medical tape to apply on the protective eye shield used when sleeping.
Fees
Please ensure all in office fees have been paid 2 weeks prior to surgery.
Illness
Please advise the office if you have a fever, productive cough, or any change in your systemic health in the days prior to surgery. The staff will advise Dr. Khan of any changes and he will decide if proceeding with surgery is okay as planned.
